RESUL Brings Credit Union Leaders Together to Explore the Future of AI-Powered Member Growth

Executive roundtable in Vancouver brings together Canada’s credit union leaders to discuss member intelligence, responsible AI adoption, and digital growth.

RESUL hosted an exclusive Credit Union Leader Roundtable Luncheon at The Teahouse Restaurant in Stanley Park, bringing together senior executives from Canada’s credit union sector for an afternoon of peer discussion focused on the future of member growth.

Moderated by Julie Breuer, Chief Client & Operations Officer at Central 1, the roundtable featured guest speakers Piyush Anand and Harry Anwar from TCS Canada, alongside executive leaders from Vancity, Coastal Community Credit Union, and Khalsa Credit Union.

The event provided a forum for industry leaders to exchange ideas, share digital transformation priorities, and discuss how member intelligence and artificial intelligence are reshaping the future of credit union growth while preserving the trusted relationships that define the industry.

Key discussion topics included:

  • Attracting and onboarding new members in an increasingly digital-first environment.
  • Creating stronger opportunities for cross-sell, relationship expansion, and long-term member value.
  • Delivering consistent, personalized member experiences across every channel.
  • Balancing innovation with the trust, community focus, and cooperative principles that differentiate credit unions.

Throughout the discussion, several common themes emerged. Participants emphasized that while AI adoption is accelerating, its greatest value extends beyond content generation. The opportunity lies in helping organizations make smarter decisions, better understand member needs, and deliver more relevant experiences throughout the member lifecycle.

Leaders also noted that responsible AI adoption must be supported by clear governance, ethical guardrails, and transparency to keep member trust at the center of every interaction.

The conversation highlighted several challenges that many credit unions continue to navigate:

  • Building a complete, unified view of every member across systems and channels.
  • Delivering relevant communications in real time based on changing member needs.
  • Identifying meaningful cross-sell and upsell opportunities that strengthen member relationships rather than simply increasing product adoption.
  • Staying ahead of rapid advancements in AI while understanding its practical applications, risks, and evolving regulatory requirements.

Several participants noted that the future of digital transformation is not about replacing human relationships, but enhancing them. As member expectations continue to evolve, technology should empower employees with better intelligence while preserving the personalized service and trust that remain at the heart of the credit union experience.

Set against the backdrop of Vancouver’s Stanley Park overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the luncheon combined executive networking with candid discussion, healthy debate, and practical knowledge sharing. The event strengthened connections across Canada’s credit union community while exploring the next generation of member growth.
